I recently came across this video from ABC10’s Lilia Luciano about Autism and Neurodiversity. She spoke with actual Autistic’s who are capable of speaking for themselves – albiet, usually with societal backlash.
“It is an adjective describing how my mind works, and how I am programmed. It is not a flaw.”
In a conversation that was taken away from those of us who are verbal, we’re often fighting the argument that “You’re too functional to have a voice. And you’re too low functioning to have a voice. You shouldn’t tell us you don’t want a cure because you’re not thinkin’ about these over here, and they can’t even talk.”
Equality, as well as access to services and aids – is that too much to ask?
It’s a great video. I’d love to hear your personal thoughts!
thank you so much for sharing it. ❤ ❤ ❤
